Texas Children’s Hospital Benefits from Oilman’s Bass Tournament

WHAT: More than 1,200 amateur fishermen will cast a line in support of Texas Children’s Hospital as part of the 19th annual Texas Oilman’s Bass Invitational (TOBI). With funding from this year’s tournament, the organization will surpass $1 million in total donations it has made since 1990 to the hospital’s renal unit.

WHEN: March 12, 10:30 a.m. – press conference
March 13-14 – tournament
March 13, 7:30 p.m. – check presentation to Texas Children’s Hospital
March 14, 7:30 to 8 p.m. – boat giveaway

WHERE: Cypress Bend Launch on Toledo Bend Reservoir located on the border of Texas and Louisiana

WHO: Texas Oilman’s Bass Invitational board of directors and committee members and major event sponsors Skeeter Boats and Yamaha Outboards and Kistler Custom Fishing Rods

WHY: TOBI focuses its funding on the renal center at Texas Children’s Hospital. Contributions provide financial assistance for less fortunate and underinsured families, send patients to transplant camp and help fund computers patients can use while in the dialysis unit.

Funds from the tournament have also helped enrich the healing process by helping create a child-friendly environment and indoor garden as well as equipment for innovative treatment programs. Assistance with ancillary funding for patient-related research activities has also been funded by the organization.
